Things to do before leaving the country… Skins Edition

What an emotional show. It just sucks you in as you dive into these characters’ lives. These poor British teenagers lead some pretty screwed up, broken lives, but I guess it wouldn’t be interesting if everyone was pretty hunky-dory.

So, what do I like most about Skins? How each episode is about a different character. Sure, everyone’s plot line develops a little, but you are able to delve into a specific character’s point of view, their joys and their struggles. It is such a creative way to write a TV show!

Favorite Character:
Wow.. that’s hard to say! Chris is wonderful! Even though he is so much more outgoing than I am I seem to identify most with him. Yeah, I do have a family and a home and I’m not dying of disease, but I guess it’s just how much his life sucked and the certain, charming positivity with which he face his life that inspired me so.

Of course, I love Cassie! She is so cute, and I just want to be able to give her a big hug when crap happens to her! I really hope Sid found her, that they end up living rather happily ever after in Manhattan.

Least Favorite Character:
Jal, definitely. Towards the end I was able to get into her character, what with the pregnancy and all, but it was too late for me. For one and half seasons I had already written her off.

So yeah… besides How I Met Your Mother and Parks and Rec (which I’m not sure if I will be able to keep up with or not) I have no other TV obligations while in France. This is good because, while American (and British!!) TV is fantastic, it is really awesome to not be stuck watching TV on your computer and actually living your life… especially when you’re living in a foreign country!!
